A brief description of the institution’s employee community service initiatives:
UK supports a number of initiatives to engage our community, including the UK Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Council which meets about twice a semester. The Council is made up of representatives from students, faculty, and staff as well as community partners and is intended to facilitate better communication, cooperation, and collaboration between UK and its community. UK also sponsors a community bus tour which provides faculty, staff, and students the opportunity to meet community partners and see their activities. Ad hoc service days have also been established in various departments to allow community service for employees, particularly for academic advisors and in student affairs.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The numbers in this credit are based on the community service activities of our undergraduate students The estimates for community service provided in this document are conservative. The University of Kentucky just established in Fall 2018 a common platform to document community service that is fully integrated with student and Greek organizations as well as departments (GivePulse). However, logged hours are mostly self-reported, and therefore underreported especially in the first year since establishing the platform.

The information presented here is self-reported. While AASHE staff review portions of all STARS reports and institutions are welcome to seek additional forms of review, the data in STARS reports are not verified by AASHE. If you believe any of this information is erroneous or inconsistent with credit criteria, please review the process for inquiring about the information reported by an institution or simply email your inquiry to stars@aashe.org.
