The Urban Forest Initiative (UFI) is a multi-faceted project to raise awareness of the ecological, social, and economic benefits provided by the urban tree canopy on University of Kentucky campus and the greater Lexington area. UFI is a collaborative group of UK academic and Lexington community stakeholders with an active interest in enhancing the urban forest. Working, living, and playing among these urban trees encourages us to care for the current canopy and promote and plan for the future community forest. Outreach and education are essential in moving toward the recognition that sustainability at our college and in our city is tied to the health of the trees therein. http://ufi.ca.uky.edu/
