A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Solar Decathlon house, continued education, and HBEER. The University of Kentucky was accepted as one of the twenty school selected to compete in the 2009 Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. Our entry was completed by a very diverse interdisciplinary team and fared well in the competition. The house is now part of our physical campus and is used as a teaching tool for many courses. Many of the lessons learned from developing the house are now being used in our HBEER project (House Boat to Energy Efficient Housing). The innovative nature of this project is affirmed by the attached document, a list of the top Commonwealth Collaborations.
