A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):
Any employee at the University of Kansas can become a sustainability ambassador if they choose to do so. In some cases, the Center for Sustainability approaches departments about the need for an ambassador from that particular department, but it is often the case that individuals approach the Center for Sustainability to be in the program because they value sustainability on campus and want to contribute. Typically there is one sustainability ambassador for each department.
None
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):
There is a Sustainability Ambassadors meeting once each month. At each meeting, an expert from the campus community or affiliated with the campus, will present to the ambassadors about a relevant or timely topic affecting sustainability on campus or in the community. Sometimes this may be a tour or a facility or resource center. In many cases, the topics covered are an attempt to train staff members about some tool or resources the University has for behaving more sustainably with the hope that the ambassador will take the training back to their department and share the information with their colleagues.
Number above includes voluntarily identified and active ambassadors, as well as their colleagues with which the educational information and resources are shared.
