A brief description of the student group, including its activities:
There are many student organizations that contribute to building a more sustainable campus and community; however two that stand out are Environs and Eco-Justice. Founded in 1985, Environs is a KU student-lead environmental advocacy group that promotes environmental awareness and encourages sound environmental practices on campus, in Lawrence and regionally. Environs is composed of committees that work on projects each semester to foster educational creative outreach, environmental preservation, local foods and resource conservation. Similarly, Eco-Justice is a KU student organization that strives to increase awareness about environmental injustices that occur nationally and globally. Students are encouraged to engage in green projects and attend local sustainability events. Environs and Eco-Justice often work together to complete projects and facilitate group meetings.
