A brief description of the formal sustainability course designation program:
Courses in the Sustainability area focus on identifying concepts and terminology associated with sustainability and systems-thinking, investigating the interconnectedness of human and natural systems, and evaluating how students’ own actions affect and are affected by society’s ability to meet sustainability goals. Students also investigate institutional and/or cultural processes or natural systems processes. On the official Course Registration website, the students can filter these courses by searching "Sustainability" and/or choosing to look up under the Sustainable Gen ED requirement. Furthermore, depending on the college that oversees said course, the Dean's office is the one in charge of approving courses under the Sustainability category based on the overall definition mentioned above.
