Facilitated by UMACS, the Office of Sustainability at the University of Iowa has partnered with several smaller universities to share information about the development of their sustainability program. Meetings and lines of communication exist with Central College, Mt. Mercy, and Kirkwood.

UMACS - The University of Iowa meets with other regional colleges annually to present best practices, share resources, and engage students and faculty in an ongoing mission to improve sustainability outcomes.

Big 10 - As a conference, the Big 10 & Friends initiatives regularly engages with all universities in the conference to improve efforts around sustainability. For example, the 2015 Big Ten & Friends Mechanical & Energy Conference brought together facility owners, operators, engineers and professionals in higher education and business partners to network, listen to, and take back information to continually improve the sustainability and efficiency of campus and university infrastructure.
