A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
UI building coordinators receive training on a regular basis on the UI recycling program and other sustainable initiatives both through Facilities Management and the Office of Sustainability.
The building coordinators are responsible for then providing information to their building occupants (which captures the entire UI Employee population).
A brief description of how the employee educators are selected:
Each building is required to have a coordinator who is mandated to participate in the program.
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
Previous trainings have included results sharing from things like waste audits (office of sustainability) or sustainable initiatives (facilities) and education on: 1) the importance of recycling - why recycle?; 2) how the UI sort-free recycling program works; and 3) how to support and increase recycling in buildings. Building coordinators are provided posters, FAQ sheets, a PowerPoint presentation and, in some cases, collection containers.
A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):
Most of the costs of the training resources are borne by the UI Facilities Management or the UI Office of Sustainability.
If reporting employees served by additional peer-to-peer programs, provide:
