A brief description of the employee wellness program, policy, or practice:
University Human Resources launched the liveWELL initiative in 2006 as part of the University’s commitment to a healthy campus culture. LiveWELL provides free programs in support of health that have a direct impact on individual health improvement, organizational performance and cost management. Since its inception, program participation has grown tremendously with over 70% of the eligible population completing the Personal Health Assessment (PHA) in 2011. From 2009 through 2011, 80% have completed the PHA at least once. Additionally, The University is proud to be a smoke-free campus, one of many University policies that support health and well-being. Of significance is the program’s positive impact on health risk reduction in the areas of tobacco use, physical inactivity, stress, and nutrition, as well as associated absenteeism and health care costs. A free one-on-one Health Coach Service is a component of the program. University Human Resources also offers a free Employee Assistance Program for faculty, staff, and dependence for emotional well-being support. The University has been designated as a Gold Level Well Workplace by the Wellness Councils of America and a Fit Friendly Workplace by the American Heart Association.
