There are numerous opportunities for the student body to get involved in community service and it is difficult to get an exact count since there is no one central repository. The Office of Student Leadership, Development and Volunteer Services operates a volunteer opportunity listing on their site mentioned above.
The Honors College which requires its students to engage in community service each semester. https://honors.uic.edu/involvement/service-opportunities/
UIC also has a Co-Curricular Leadership Certificate program. Credit for this certificate can be obtained through volunteering for service opportunities in the Chicagoland area, tutoring, etc. https://slce.uic.edu/leadership/leadership-certificate/
