A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:

The UIC Chicago Campus is included in this report. This consists of the 15 colleges, the buildings, and activities that are located to the southwest of the Chicago Loop on the east, and west (medical) side of campus. There is approximately one mile distance between the two. See attached list (600 and 900 buildings are in the scope).

UIC's College of Medicine has regional branches in Peoria, Rockford, and Urbana, Illinois. Those are not included in the boundary used to complete the report. There are also dental and medical clinics throughout the Chicago area in leased buildings that are not included in the report.

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? Included?
Agricultural school No No
Medical school Yes Yes
Other professional school with labs and clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) Yes Yes
Satellite campus Yes No
Farm larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares No No
Agricultural experiment station larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares No No
Hospital Yes Yes

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:

The Office of Sustainability does not run any programs in the regional campuses of the Medical School nor does it engage with the leased clinics. See attached list (700 and 800 numbered buildings). There has been no historic collection of energy, waste or other data from there. Additionally, there is a business corridor to the south of the east side of campus that has tenants. Data on the tenant's electricity use is not included. However, to the best of our knowledge, UIC provides waste and recycling services to those tenants as well as heating and cooling through the central plants so that data is included.
