The UIC College of Cycling promotes a healthy and active lifestyle through cycling and bike advocacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago, creates awareness and educate the community about the benefits of cycling, raises funds to propagate biking in the city of Chicago and across the globe through donations, providea a safe and friendly environment for cycling outings, events, and service projects to empower and increase the number of bicycle riders in Chicago.
EcoCampus - We are a student organization at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental justice at UIC and around Chicago. All of our approaches are student-based, focusing on what we, as students at a University can do. With ideas, motivation, and hope, we've managed to accomplish many great things at UIC and for the greater Chicago area. There's even more hope for the future.
Food Recovery Network - UIC FRN, Food Recovery Network of UIC tackles two of the most important issues in America: Food and hunger. Fight hunger and reduce food waste!

The UIC Heritage Garden offers an experiential learning space where students in collaboration with faculty, staff, and community members can engage in hands-on horticultural activities while expanding their knowledge of sustainable practices that include culturally diverse and environmentally friendly traditions and values.
The “backyard” of the Applied Health Sciences Building at 1919 W. Taylor is now home to a teaching garden, courtesy of the AHS Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition.
Growing, harvesting and preparing the foods will be part of the curriculum in her Introduction to Foods course, open to all UIC students and required for nutrition undergraduates. Students also learn about organic agriculture. https://ahs.uic.edu/kinesiology-nutrition/news/its-grow-time/

The UIC Freshwater Lab is a committee focused on a humanistic approach to water management and conservation. Exploring the social issued related to water, energy, and natural resources in the Great Lake region. The goals of the UIC Freshwater lab include connecting the community through shared water, educating students to be leaders in emerging “blue economy,” and serving as a bridge to connect researchers, non-profit organizations, and the private and public sectors in the mutual interest of innovative water policy.

During the Spring 2016, students in Art and Architecture hosted a series of 6 events/performances/demonstrations at the UIC Greenhouse. These events brought together an interdisciplinary group of artists, environmental activists, and anthropologists to present their work to the UIC student body. The Latino Cultural Center hosted Ayotzinapa Lives, the Struggle Continues April 4-5, 2016 Painting of trash cans

UIC Impact is the University of Illinois at Chicago’s commitment that all students will have the opportunity to apply their learning to real world challenges through high impact engagement. UIC Impact has adapted the high impact practices from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Research indicates students who participate in high impact practices are more likely to persist through graduation and are more successful in their initial steps after college.
UIC Impact’s Goal: Every student will engage in at least two high impact activities while at the university. One category is ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS & SUSTAINABILITY Students participate in sustainability-related research and internships that offer hands-on learning experiences that advance the overall mission of greater social, economic and environmental sustainability in the campus community.
