Between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021, the University of Idaho completed 3 major capital projects.
1) Classroom and Office Building at the Nancy M Cummings Research, Education, and Extension Center in Carmen, Idaho. Completed 2019. 8,300 gsf
2) Seed Potato Germplasm Laboratory Facility, UI Main Campus, Moscow, Idaho. Completed 2021. 9,370 gsf
3) ICCU Idaho Arena, UI Main Campus, Moscow, Idaho. Completed 2021. 66,186 gsf
All three facilities were designed and constructed under the stated, adopted UI policy that new facilities shall meet LEED Silver benchmarks, or greater, although none were registered with the U.S. Green Building Council nor certified.
The ICCU Idaho Arena is of mass timber construction, specifically designed and constructed as a demonstration project to highlight the capabilities of mass timber construction methodologies and techniques. The Idaho Arena has been featured as an exemplar and case study during the Annual Mass Timber Conference. Please see the attached fact sheet for information re mass timber techniques used, basic information, metric tons of captured carbon, etc.
