Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Construction of the ICCU Arena (2020)
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Idaho Central Credit Union Arena features ground-breaking use of mass timber in its design, sourcing, and construction. The long-span mass timber is the first of its kind, boasting a hybrid structural system with glulam beams, steel king-post trusses, and concrete shear walls. The University of Idaho's Department of Forest, Rangeland and Fire Sciences facilitated the sourcing of the timber from within the region and the University of Idaho’s Experimental Forest, while area manufacturers donated materials and use of fabrication facilities to promote the spirit of purchasing local. The ICCU Arena was also built to LEED Silver standards, though has not officially been certified.
