"At U of I, the LGBTQA Office manages most of the school's efforts to promote diversity and develop a more inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community. Among the available resources, the office provides coming out support, weekly newsletters, volunteering opportunities, and Safe Zone training.

U of I has also established gender-inclusive bathrooms and gender-inclusive living communities. For degree-seekers, the school offers a minor in women's, gender, and sexuality studies, along with specialized funding opportunities. Additionally, students can join one of the many LGBTQ+ student organizations, like the Gender and Sexuality Alliance.

U of I earned an overall score of 3.5 on the Campus Pride Index, along with a five-star rating for LGBTQ campus safety."

In addition to these accomplishments, UI students can now change their first name on their student account without a legal name change.
