Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
No
A brief description of the incentive program(s):
The university does not currently have an incentive program, however there are two major initiatives that have been focused on adding sustainability courses and content to our catalogue.
In 2020, the Environmental Science department restructured the degree program tracks with the explicit focus on creating sustainability emphasis across colleges.
In 2021, President Scott Green assembled the Presidential Sustainability Working Group, which seeks to improve and elevate sustainability in academics, operations, and the student experience. The working group will identify certificates, degrees and courses we offer and the research that we pursue. The audit of current offerings will result in recommendations for early opportunities to market existing degrees and research focused on sustainability, as well as include recommendations for future focus areas in sustainability.
One of the desired results of this working group will be a certificate program that incentivizes every degree program at the university to define a set of courses that meet sustainability criteria.
