A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
Building on the Campus Climate Survey from 2016, the "UH Culture" team has been continuing to collect feedback from representative samples of the entire UH employee community. Keeling and Associates along with a UH steering committee has been holding interviews, idea walls, town halls, telephone interviews, and document reviews quarterly since 2018. As of today, the project is shifting to its implementation phase.
Additionally, Staff Council regularly solicits staff feedback about their work and campus experience through surveys, Conversations events, and constituent communications.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
The survey resulted in the following actions: a newly established dual-career hiring policy, developed and delivered diversity training for search committee members, and pilot tested a continuous climate assessment in education to determine what chairs and deans can do to improve engagement and climate. Lastly, a mentoring program, including a research mentoring component, along with a training session on micro-aggression has also been implemented to promote co-worker support. As of today, UH Culture is now evaluating the effectiveness of these actions to revise future assessments.
Additionally Staff Council has now made its meetings fully virtual to allow all UH staff to attend. Meetings also have an anonymous question form anyone can fill out to raise issues to the council or special guests. Presently, this has resulted in the prioritization of a revised remote work policy and pay bracket assessments.
