Many UH Maui College personnel serve in leadership capacities for community-based organizations working to advance sustainability across Hawaiʻi, however no comprehensive list of such service exists. For example:

Conservation Planning Committee - UHMC Faculty member Michelle Gould serves on the Maui Conservation Planning Committee, which provides recommendations to the mayor, council and county agencies prior to acquiring parcels for land conservation purposes using Open Space, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources and Scenic Views Preservation Funds.

The Online Learning Consortium (Conference) - Nicolette van der Lee served on the organizing committee for the Online Learning Consortium Conference for expert guidance, professional development and resources to help them excel in digital learning.

UH Maui College representatives (including students, faculty, and staff) have participated in the annual Hawaii Sustainability in Higher Education Summits organized by the UH (System) Office of Sustainability.

The Annual Hawai‘i Sustainability in Higher Education Summit served as a cornerstone event to advance the University of Hawai‘i Executive Sustainability Policy EP 4.202 strategic sustainability initiatives from year to year.

Delegations from all 10 UH campuses gather to learn together from local practitioners, national subject matter experts, and each other, and to set the action agenda for implementation of strategic initiatives each year. (These have not been held since 2018 due to funding restrictions)
