Committee on Social Equity (COSE)

Includes:
5 faculty members, a student representative selected by student government, and a representative from the Staff Advisory Council.

- Meets monthly
- Address existing and potential bias issues including, but not limited to Age, Culture, Gender, Language, Race, Religion, Sexual orientation, Social stratification, and Special populations.

FUNCTION
- Provide an HCC representative to attend system-wide meetings on Equity issues;
- Attempt to have two presentations/discussion meetings per year on bias-related topics;
- Provide a repository for equity issues material such as films and written works
- Present varied forums for the above issues to be discussed/presented;
- Provide a clearinghouse/non-structured platform for students, faculty, and staff to voice concern(s) about biases within the college sphere whether real or potential.
- Act as a vehicle to pro-actively disseminate information on diversity.
- This committee is not an avenue to file a grievance
