Sustainability Focused Programs

Academic Subject Certificate in Sustainability

Students take Sustainability Focused courses and complete a Sustainability Focused capstone project to receive an academic subject certificate that will be posted on the student’s transcript.

Liberal Arts AA Program

Program Learning Outcome:
Demonstrate an understanding of the natural environment of the planet and learn to utilize natural resources sustainably.

Hawaiian Studies AA Program

Program Learning Outcome:
Identify elements of the geology and geography of Hawai‘i and the role of Hawaiian culture in understanding the ‘āina (land/earth).

Carpentry Technology AAS Program

Demonstrate personal and professional health, fitness and safety practices required for the building and construction occupations. Teaches traditional Hawaiian culture and values through Carpentry which includes using natural native materials and reusing resources.

Fire & Environmental Emergency Response AAS Program

Develops skills and in-service professional development in responding to fire, medical, and
environmental emergency situations with an emphasis on Environmental Fire Prevention and Science.

Requires CHEM 105, a sustainability focused class.

Occupational & Environmental Safety Management AAS Program

Promote workplace health & safety and environmental protection through education and training.

Requires CHEM 105, a sustainability focused class.

Marine Option Program Academic Subject Certificate

Students take marine-related coursework, conduct an independent research project or participate in an internship in a marine-related field.
