University Housing Staff Field Trips
A brief description of the employee educators program (2nd program):
University Housing Sustainability Coordinator leads experiential learning trips throughout the academic year for Housing staff to become engaged and familiarized with sustainable resources available on campus and throughout the greater Athens-Clarke County region. These field trips provide an opportunity for professional staff stay up to date on current sustainability initiatives that they can also participate in as UGA employees and Athens-Clarke County citizens. These tours offer opportunities for our staff to understand the larger “why” of our work with sustainability initiatives as Student Affairs professionals. These tours offer fun, low-risk ways to break down silos within our own large department which features approximately 250 staff. We’ve had tours to the county recycling facility, landfill, compost facility, UGArden (UGA’s student-community teaching farm), and explored various multi-use paths. This program provides an inclusive approach as to how Housing staff can be aware of and participate in various resources on and off campus.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (2nd program):
Our target audience is adult learners (new and older employees) within University Housing. Our goal is to provide education on sustainable resources, opportunities to connect across the department, engage in experiential learning, and create buy-in and support of sustainability initiatives within the residence halls. Our target audience is staff that want to learn more about current sustainability engagement/topics as well as staff that want a break from their routine work day.
