Bachelor of Science - Natural Resource Management and Sustainability
A brief description of the undergraduate degree program:
The natural resource management and sustainability major is suited for students interested in natural resource management, but who seek a more flexible curriculum. The curriculum provides a combination of knowledge and skills in biological and ecological sciences, natural resource management and social sciences needed to address complex natural resource challenges. Students in the natural resource management and sustainability major have the flexibility to integrate courses from one or more of the other majors. Additionally, curricula in the areas of emphasis are designed to facilitate earning an interdisciplinary certificate in the area of study. Graduates will be prepared to pursue careers in the public and private sectors, or pursue additional training in graduate studies.

A brief description of the undergraduate degree program (2nd program):
The Environmental Economics and Management major prepares students for public and private positions in natural and environmental resource analysis and management. Students in this major receive training in resource economics, environmental economics, economic theory and quantitative decisions making techniques. Through working with their faculty advisor, students may choose to specialize in a particular area of natural and environmental resource management, including water resource management, conservation, regional or community development, or management of public or private resources. The courses within this major provide students with the necessary background to work effectively with professionals in many fields.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Ecology provides a strong foundation in Ecology with an emphasis on the application of ecology to issues of societal importance such as conservation and climate change. This is also an appropriate degree for students interested in environmental law or journalism.

The Environmental Ethics Certificate Program (EECP) is a non-degree program offered as an enhancement to an undergraduate or graduate degree. The EECP provides an interdisciplinary forum for students, faculty, and the community to discuss social and scientific responsibilities toward our environment. // The Program seeks to unify people from a diversity of disciplines in discussion and decision-making about environmental problems that involve competing values. The Program provides a forum where philosophers, scientists and people from all other disciplines can discuss social and scientific responsibilities toward our environment in a rational manner which clearly defines problems, considers all the information, and maintains our values.

Local Food Systems Certificate
A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration (3rd program):
The UGA Certificate in Local Foods is an interdisciplinary certificate designed to give students an overview of the concepts and issues of the local food movement. Students from any major, who have a professional or personal interest in local food systems, are provided the opportunity to explore the many interconnected issues of growing and consuming food grown. The course of study for the certificate insures students receive a balanced view and deeper understanding both the production and nutritional aspects, as well as the complexities of safeguarding the environment and providing for those less fortunate.
