Envision Athens is a community-wide effort to develop a common vision for the future of the Athens-Clarke County community. http://envisionathens.com/

This process will result in a visionary, yet achievable multi-dimensional strategy to guide community and economic development for the next 20 years. In doing so, a shared sense of accountability and commitment to implementation will be achieved –this will not be “just another plan.” Envision Athens will be open and inclusive, intuitive and informed, and carefully-designed and facilitated.

The UGA Complete Streets Committee includes representatives from UGA Office of University Architects, UGA Facilities Management Division, UGA Transportation and Parking Services, UGA Police Department, UGA College of Public Health and Traffic Safety Research and Evaluation Group, Athens-Clarke County Transportation and Public Works, Athens Clarke County Office of Sustainability, and others. The purpose of the committee is to identify transportation concerns and appropriate solutions to ensure safety of all modal users.


A brief description of the institution’s other community partnerships to advance sustainability:

The Office of Community Relations at UGA functions to build strong partnerships and links between the University and the Athens-Clarke County community, government, businesses, neighborhoods, non-profit organizations and community leaders and individuals. The University works with the Athens community through active participation in discussions, coalitions, meetings and outreach projects to build and maintain relationships, while making a positive difference in the Athens area. The Office also serves as a resource for faculty, staff, and students who are seeking information or assistance with local government matters or issues.
