A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contribute to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
In 2008, a construction and demolition waste recycling program was implemented on UGA property to divert building construction materials from the ACC landfill. To date, between 75-86% of construction debris from several capital improvement projects (over 700 tons of materials total - 1,700,000 pounds) have been processed and reused on campus. The recycled materials created include various sizes of gravel used in multiple construction applications, engineered soil mixes used in rain gardens, and shredded wood materials used primarily for construction site storm water management.
