Does the institution seek to support historically underutilized businesses, minority-owned businesses, and women owned-businesses?:
Yes
None
A brief description of how the institution meets the criteria:
The Governor of Georgia has issued an Executive Order directing all agencies and institutions to increase the level of small and minority business participation.
If a minority vendor can meet the needs of the University at a fair and reasonable price and in a timely fashion, it is strongly encouraged to utilize them as the source of supply. If a minority vendor cannot be located, every effort should be made to utilize a small business.
Mandatory statewide contracts that are already in place for a service or product still require to utilization of the vendors who were awarded that contract. Furthermore, in the area of federally funded purchases, every attempt is made to also utilize woman-owned enterprises, veteran-owned businesses, labor surplus area firms and disadvantaged businesses. Listings of these types of businesses are available from the Central Contractor Registration System website http://www.ccr.gov/ utilizing the dynamic small business search. Additionally, the UGA Procurement Office staff assists in locating the different types of businesses addressed in this paragraph.
