A brief description of the food donation program:
UGA Dining Services is the biggest supplier of excess prepared food to the Full Plate program (an affiliate of Feed America) which distributes food to local homeless shelters and safe houses. The UGA Dining Services contributed over 13,525 pounds of food to Full Plate in 2008. Food Services is also a major donator of nonperishables to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia which recovers surplus food and distributes it to human-service agencies.
