A brief description of the institution's indoor air quality plan, policy, and/or practices:
It is the goal of the University of Georgia to provide a work environment free of recognized hazards and to investigation staff concerns of poor indoor air quality (IAQ).
The IH&OS department uses recommendations from the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to identify those issues that would impair indoor air quality and correct them in a timely manner.
To request an Indoor Air quality Check, the supervisor of the area in question should forward a written request (not email) to John McCollum, AVP, ESD who will then forward the request to the IHOS office for assignment.
If the request is received before noon, we will attempt to address the concern the same day. If the request is received after noon, it will be addressed on the next business day.
Standard building maintenance practices in UGA's CIMS-certified Green Building with Honors Green Cleaning Program are designed to promote healthy indoor air quality through the use of only 3 non-toxic cleaning supplies and other best practices.
Standard products for minor building renovations include no-VOC paint and carpet adhesives to contribute to healthy indoor air quality.
