The Metro Denver Nature Alliance (Metro DNA) is a growing coalition of more than 50 non-profit, government, research, and private sector members aligned around the mission of championing more equitable access to nature and promoting healthy people, communities, and natural places in the metro Denver region. The coalition was co-founded by several organizations including the university. The university continues to collaborate with partner organizations in a variety of ways, such as serving on the executive and steering committees, leading the research team of the Equity Task Force to complete a Regional Equity Assessment, funding students to work on projects identified by coalition members, connecting community-engaged classes taught by faculty to coalition projects, and more.

A commitment to leveraging institutional business practices to create greater economic opportunities in low-income communities of color contributes to sustainability as well as helping to close the racial wealth gap.
