Hosted by the University Libraries, Digital Commons@DU brings together the University's research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research. The repository currently contains approximately 19,998 submissions, ranging from research articles to data collections to dissertations, and more, organized by units, departments, and programs, and searchable by keyword. (Searching the repository with the keyword sustainability retrieves 4,882 results; environmental justice retrieves 1,444 results, as just a limited indication of content related to sustainability).

The University Libraries provide a fund of $50,000 per year toward open access journal publications. Authors may receive up to $3,000 for open access articles in journals which meet the library’s requirements. Open access journal hosting
A brief description of the open access journal hosting services:
The Digital Commons institutional repository provides a platform for hosting 12 active and 5 archival open-access journals. We also have a staff person who provides training, tech support, and consultations at no cost.
We provide free hosting of open access journals created or edited by faculty, staff, and students of the University of Denver. Our services include training on the use of the Digital Commons platform and Creative Commons Licenses, technical support, and consultations on journal format, maintenance, peer review, or other questions, especially for student editors.

30.4% of publications affiliated with the University of Denver in Web of Science were open access through a publisher’s website. 16% federally funded publications found through CHORUS were open access on a publisher’s website and 71 (13%) were available on PubMed. These numbers were best estimates. We do not have a university-level webpage about support for open access, however, the University Libraries maintains this Open Access Research Guide: https://libguides.du.edu/openaccess
