Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory

Has the institution conducted a GHG emissions inventory within the previous three years that includes all Scope 1 and 2 emissions? :
Yes

A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
Departments report data on an annual basis to Facilities Management Energy & Sustainability. Data is entered in SIMAP for GHG inventory calculations.

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
The most recent fiscal year report has not been validated, but the previous year's reports were validated by the Hanley Sustainability Institute.

Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
---

Scope 1 GHG emissions
Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
Weight in MTCO2e
Stationary combustion 16,622.79 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) 483 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
17,105.79 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Scope 2 GHG emissions
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year (market-based):
Weight in MTCO2e
Imported electricity 41,143.77 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year:
41,143.77 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

GHG emissions from biomass combustion
Gross GHG emissions from biogenic sources, performance year:
0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Scope 3 GHG emissions
Does the GHG emissions inventory include Scope 3 emissions from the following sources?:
Yes or No Weight in MTCO2e
Business travel Yes 3,419.91 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Commuting Yes 3,652.29 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Purchased goods and services Yes 93.64 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Capital goods No ---
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 Yes 2,111.72 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Waste generated in operations Yes 342.56 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources Yes 1,506.54 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total Scope 3 GHG emissions, performance year:
11,126.66 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
We collect as much data as we can on Scope 3. Commuting is estimated based on past survey data. Business travel data is provided by purchasing, covering all transportation costs paid for by the university through normal procedures. Study abroad travel miles are provided by the staff managing the study abroad program. Solid waste and composting data is provided by the university's waste hauler. Wastewater data is based on the university's non-irrigation billed water consumption from the City of Dayton. Paper purchasing data is provided the purchasing department. We use all of the standard SIMAP emissions factors including for T&D losses.

Part 2. Air pollutant emissions inventory

Has the institution completed an inventory within the previous three years to quantify its air pollutant emissions?:
Yes

Annual weight of emissions for::
Weight of Emissions
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) 6.04 Metric tons
Sulfur oxides (SOx) 0.04 Metric tons
Carbon monoxide (CO) 5.08 Metric tons
Particulate matter (PM) 0.11 Metric tons
Ozone (O3) ---
Lead (Pb) 0 Metric tons
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) 0 Metric tons
Ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) 0 Metric tons
Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations 0 Metric tons

Do the air pollutant emissions figures provided include the following sources?:
Yes or No
Major stationary sources Yes
Area sources Yes
Mobile sources No
Commuting No
Off-site electricity production Yes

None
A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:
We have six 17 mmBTU/hr natural gas boilers in the steam plant in the basement of Humanities that provides steam heat to campus. These are the only sources we are required to report on. Reporting time frame: Jan-Dec 2020
We confirmed that we do not have any "Major Stationary Sources." We also do not operate any off-site electricity production.
