A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
Numbers are gathered from parking permits distributed by UConn’s Parking Services for residents, non-residents, carpools, and moped/motorcycles. Transportation services continuously tracks how many students use the campus shuttles, and the new U-Pass program counts how many permits are distributed to students to use state-wide public transportation for free. Residential students are only permitted to obtain a parking pass when they have met the third-year credit requirement.

Numbers are gathered from parking permits distributed by UConn’s Parking Services for employees. Information on telecommuting comes from Labor Relations, and only includes employees who have a formal arrangement. The actual number could vary based on informal arrangements employees have with their departments and faculty schedules.
