A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
CEUI and AFSCME union members established the “Something’s Happening” Committee (SHC) in 2008. The committee was comprised of the following members: Allison Cartwright, Office of Diversity and Equity Christopher Casa, Police Department Kimberly Fearney, Office of Audit, Compliance, and Ethics Leslie Gemme, AAUP Christine Harvey, Military Sciences Pam Heath-Johnston, Human Resources Kathleen Holgerson, Women’s Center Keith Hood, Labor Relations Leslie Maddocks, CEUI Vicki Magley, Psychology Department Dana McGee, Office of Diversity and Equity Carol Millette, AFSCME Donna Munroe, Human Resources and Payroll Services Annie Noonan, UCPEA Rachel Rubin, Office of Audit, Compliance, and Ethics Rianne Savage, CEUI Cara Workman, UCPEA This committee issued an informal Workplace Civility Climate survey in 2009, and another in 2012. In the 2012 survey, 4000 permanent UConn employees participated under the direction of the Department of Psychology. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were done on the collective responses of 44% of our employees (N=2125)

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
The Office of Institutional Equity (formerly Office of Diversity and Equity) conducts training sessions for faculty, staff, and graduate students. There are several training sessions each year, including 14 remaining in 2016, that address Diversity Awareness and Sexual Harassment Prevention. In 2016, the university also hired Joelle A. Murchison as Associate Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer. She will report directly to the president and lead the University’s Diversity Council in efforts to review and assess the effectiveness of UConn’s diversity and inclusion programs
