A brief description of the farmers’ market:

Bridging Research and Aurora Neighborhoods for Community Health (BRANCH) is a University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) multidisciplinary student, faculty, and staff organization dedicated to becoming a sustained partner with Aurora communities by promoting, supporting, and implementing programs that encourage Aurora community members to take an active role in their own health and the health of their community. From July 2011 to September 2011, BRANCH worked with the Metro Denver Farmer’s Market to bring the first farmers’ market to the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) and the Aurora community at General’s Park on the corner of Peoria and Colfax. There were approximately 200+ attending from the surrounding Aurora community as well as 200+ from the AMC community on a weekly basis!
This Farmers’ Market has become a huge hit by offering increased access to fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables for both the AMC and Aurora communities. It also provided an educational venue to the Aurora community through a regular booth from Children’s Hospital and BRANCH, and a one-time booth from the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center.
