The Sustainability Committee strives to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all interested faculty members, staff, and students, and to involve as many disciplines and perspectives as possible from across campus to improve teaching, research, operations, and practical works related to sustainability. The Sustainability Committee is a Regular Standing Advisory Committee of the UCCS Faculty Assembly.

The UCCS Office of Sustainability provides knowledge, solutions, and leadership toward developing a culture of sustainability at UCCS and supporting efforts in the Pikes Peak Region.

Core Services:
-Communicate, collaborate, and celebrate the implementation of the 2030 Sustainability Strategic Plan
-Partner with staff and faculty to integrate sustainability into their programs and curriculum
-Advise the building and maintenance of high-performance buildings
-Monitor and report on sustainability metrics

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
The Office of Sustainability is responsible for fostering a culture of sustainability through partnering with campus stakeholders to implement the UCCS Sustainability Strategic Plan 2030.

- Advised the Sustainability Committee and Student Government Association in developing the new UCCS Sustainability Strategic Plan 2030.
- Advised and supported the Green Action Fund and project coordinators in completing sustainability projects on campus; since 2012, 160+ projects have invested over $1.4+ million in sustainable projects.
- Provided support for multiple building projects - a total of 16 Gold now.
- Held numerous educational events, including Clean the Stream, Sustainability Summit, Move-out waste diversion, sustainability speakers, Earth Day, etc.
- Conducted an innovative behavioral management program with Colorado State University's Institute for the Built Environment to promote water conservation in the residence halls.
- Supported an energy performance contract and investment grade audit (IGA) to identify resource and cost-saving energy and water conservation strategies.
- Supported hiring a Building Performance Principle Professional and Director of Energy and Utilities to improve energy and water measurement, management, and investment.
