Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
Clyde’s Cupboard is a 100% donation-based and non-need-based food pantry that provides free food and toiletries for all enrolled UCCS students. In a recent NCHA-ACHA survey done at UCCS, 48.9% of UCCS students reported they are facing food insecurity, meaning they have missed meals because of lack of funds or have faced hard choices between paying bills or buying groceries. Clyde’s Cupboard aims to help those in need and make all students feel safe and comfortable visiting and utilizing our services.
Mountain Lion Meals
In collaboration with Dining and Hospitality Services and with support from the Student Government Associations, Clyde's Cupboard can offer up to 40 students up to 3 free meals per week in the Dining Halls. This program is a first come, first serve program with a limited number of meals to be distributed weekly. Students can sign up weekly for a meal by filling out a form.
Fresh Food Fridays
Clyde's Cupboard will host Fresh Food Fridays every other Friday throughout the Fall and Spring semesters to provide healthy and nutritious options to students. Students can pick a selection of fresh food, including vegetables, fruit, milk, bread, and more. Dates and times of the Fresh Food Fridays will be posted on Clyde's Cupboard social media accounts.
