Year the institution’s sustainability projects fund was established:
2,012

A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:

The mission of the Green Action Fund is to reduce the ecological footprint of UCCS and promote sustainable environment, social and economic values through a variety of student-sponsored projects.

A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:

There are four grant applications that are available to UCCS students, faculty and staff. Large grants are $15,000+, small grants are >$14,999, and research seed grants are maximum $5,000. The sustainable conference grant is the only grant that is only available to students. This covers travel, lodging, and conference fees.

After initial discussions with the Green Action Fund Project Coordinator to strengthen the submission, the project may be submitted to the GAF committee for review. The application is evaluated based on its contribution to each of the following GAF Pillars – reduction of ecological footprint, increased student involvement, education and outreach, long-term feasibility, and scope of impact at UCCS. The Green Action Fund Committee is made-up of 15 committee members – 13 students, 1 faculty representative and 1 staff representative. These committee members review the applications and complete rubrics for each project. Then the proposers present to the committee along with a short Q&A session. The committee then discusses and provides a response within 48 hours to the proposer.
