Kraemer Family Library Team Green
A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The Kraemer Family Library (KFL) Team Green provides education and outreach to all the library staff and library users. The mission of the KFL Team Green is to “raise awareness of sustainability opportunities in the Kraemer Family Library and around the UCCS campus, and explore ways to enable environmentally sustainable behavior in our professional and personal lives.” They conduct monthly Team Green meetings to achieve goals set in their 2021 Sustainability Plan including a section on staff training.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The KFL Team Green meets monthly to review and train members to become “experts” in the following sustainability related topics: purchasing, zero waste, multi-modal transportation options, diversity and equity, renewable energy, water and energy conservation, and more. The committee utilizes the content from these meetings to host programs, events, and implement projects to educate the UCCS community. The committee has received grant funding through the Green Action Fund for active study stations, zero waste initiatives, and multi-modal transportation support. They have also implemented energy efficiency strategies, support of sustainability speakers, and increased purchasing of sustainability books and journals. Each of these initiatives and campaigns are communicated through their marketing platforms including the Circulation Desk display, which also integrates various books as ways for our campus community to learn more about the topics. The KFL Team Green also attends events and tables to provide additional educational outreach. They are the first and most successful committee that is part of our Green Team Network, a new initiative which strives to provide support to each department in finding sustainable solutions to their departmental processes.
