The Diversity Alliance Committee sponsors leadership development scholarships for students involved in advancing diversity and inclusiveness at UCCS. Student leaders of campus organizations can be funded for travel and conference costs. UCCS has a number of committees focusing on dimensions of diversity and equity. Some are embedded within the governance structures of the university, including faculty government and the student government association. The Diversity Foundations committee is advisory to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusiveness. This group monitors and guides implementation of the Diversity Strategic Plan for the campus. Diversity Foundations includes representation from all of the colleges and divisions on campus. Other committees focused on diversity and equity include the Faculty Minority Affairs Committee, the Women’s Committee, PRIDE, Diversity Alliace, and the Inclusive Campus Action Team.

A brief description of the diversity office:
The Office of Diversity and Inclusiveness is directed by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusiveness within Academic Affairs. This Office oversees implementation of the Diversity Strategic Plan in close coordination with MOSAIC (Multicultural Office for Student Access, Inclusiveness and Community) which is a student support center offering a safe place for students to engage in discussions about social identities, cultures, experiences, and viewpoints. MOSAIC offers a wide range of services for students of diverse backgrounds, including information on scholarships, job opportunities, mentoring opportunities, and other services. The LGBT Resource Center is housed within MOSAIC. Other roles are critical to diversity and equity though not housed within these offices, including the sexual harassment officer, discrimination officer and ombudsperson.

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusiveness is an officer of the university and, in effect, the Chief Diversity Officer. This is a full-time position occupied by a tenured full professor. The AVCDI reports to the Provost and has regular access to the Chancellor. The AVCDI is a member of the Deans Council, the Academic Affairs Executive Team, and the Chancellor’s Strategy Team.
