A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed:

We do not have formal policy to require green cleaning products on campus. However, the university's "Green Purchasing Guidelines" encourage purchasing of green cleaning products and procedures and practices to reduce pollution and release of toxic wastes. As of December 2010, we are in the process of reviewing proposals for a CU system green cleaning contract, which will ensure that all products that can meet Green Seal or Eco-Logo do so. Implementation for the new green cleaning program is planned for January -February of 2011.

Currently we work informally with our cleaning product suppliers to ensure that all products meet Green Seal or Environmental choice certification, if possible -- over 90% of the cleaning products used on campus meet one of these criterion. Currently the floor care product that is used does not meet Green Seal or Environmental Choice criteria, but we are working with our vendors to supply one that does.

Does the institution wish to pursue points for Part 2 of this credit (expenditures on cleaning products)?:
Yes

23,036.14 US/Canadian $

Total expenditures on cleaning products :
27,374.87 US/Canadian $
