In the spring of 2005, students voted to dedicate a portion of student fees to implement on-campus sustainability projects that reduce the University's impact on climate and the environment. The Sustainable CU Fund can be used for projects involving renewable energy, energy efficiency, recycling and waste reduction, and other innovative sustainability solutions. The CUSG Environmental Board (composed of students, staff, community representives) allocates large and small grants from the Sustainable CU Fund twice yearly. Proposals require stakeholder review for feasibility assessment. Sustainable CU has funded over $2M for 120 projects. As of July 2024, $150,000 in funding is available.
