Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Our university's service initiatives have historically been based on a decentralized approach with a wide variety of programming taking place across campus with academic, co-curricular and student-lead realms, making the accounting of total service hours a challenge.
It should be noted that the Office for University Outreach website listed above provides just one glimpse into service at CU, but is not an exhaustive list. The IECE website was listed in another section in order to supply with with two websites featuring lists of some of CU's service programs.
The number of hours listed above is the best approximation that could be made with the current data available. A survey of students, staff and faculty overseeing service programs (ranging from student groups building community gardens to community-based academic programs) that supervise approximately 1200 students reported service hours for the students in their programs. 98 hours is average number of hours per year per student based on the survey respondants.
