Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST+)

As part of UC’s Next Lives Here strategic direction, UC has created a new program named Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST+) and committed an extraordinary $12M achieve its goal. This program aligns with The National Institutes of Health’s FIRST Program; its goal is to ensure that UC has diverse perspectives that will come together to help solve complex issues under the Urban Health section of Next Lives Here.
The majority of the funds will be used to support the hiring of a diverse group of faculty. In addition, funds will be used for programs related faculty development, inclusive community building, practice changes, and evaluation.
In doing so, UC is heightening its sustainability impacts in regards to Good Health & Well Being (SDG#3), Quality Education (SDG#4), Decent Work & Economic Growth (SDG#8), Reduced Inequalities (SDG#10), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG#12).
