A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory (including the types of faculty and staff included as researchers):
Using UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and The Earth Charter, we first identified keywords, terms and phrases relevant to sustainability. We then used those terms and phrases to query the titles and abstracts of the projects in UC's sponsored research databases (COEUS and SCOPUS) for the last three years (July 2013- July 2016), and confirmed (or denied) the link to sustainability for the items that came up as a result of the query by reading the associated documents in the data base for each project. No outreach or surveying of departments or individuals was done in this analysis.
