A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with sustainable building operation and maintenance guidelines and policies:
For optimal energy usage, the University of Cincinnati monitors all buildings with sub-meters. Monthly reports are generated and studied, and if energy usage in a building spikes, the problem can be analyzed and quickly addressed in order to limit waste. The buildings with the worst energy performance per square foot are tracked and prioritized for HVAC / lighting upgrades and window replacement as funds become available.
In addition the maintenance staff frequently attends seminars on the latest Green Housekeeping Products. Furthermore, a green housekeeping procedure is in place at the two most currently completed LEED buildings, Care / Crawley, Teachers College. We are in the process of expanding these procedures to other buildings on campus.
