The Ginsburg Center for Inclusion and Community Engagement Office of Diversity Education and Training offers workshops, symposiums, and certificate programs to faculty, staff, students, and community and industry partners aimed at developing competencies needed to thrive in a competitive, diverse, and interconnected workforce and society.
Initiatives:
The Office of Diversity Education and Training leads the university’s effort to become more inclusive and diverse through a number of initiatives: education and training; engaging events; annual celebrations such as October’s “Diversity Week” and March’s Women’s History Month; support of our Central Florida community activists; campaigns to promote Respect, cultural competency and professional development for students, staff and faculty; and research into inclusion topics.

UCF is also a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) - a federal designation by the U.S. Department of Education that acknowledges colleges and universities with at least 25% total undergraduate Hispanic full-time student enrollment.
Programs offered by the Office for Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives include: Latinx Leadership, Crear Futuros, Grow with Google, Nuestra Celebración, and HSI Battle of the Brains.

Under the Office of Diversity Education and Training, faculty, staff, and students can pursue certificates and training individually or as a departmental effort to improve performance and learning and work environments.
Free workshops available include: Diversity and Sense of Belonging, Inclusive Communication, The Unconscious Mind, Examining the Real Disability Barriers, Disability Accessibility, and more. A sample training schedule from Fall 2023 is attached to show a full listing.
In addition to Faculty, GTA, and New Employee Orientations, the Office of Diversity Education and Training provides a variety of consultations and presentations as a service to the UCF Community.
Consultations: A consultation is an individual or group meeting to assist in planning diversity-related programs and events, incorporating diversity into grant proposals, infusing the curriculum with diversity content and pedagogy in both new and existing courses, or discussing a diversity issue or incident. Depending upon the circumstances, consultations may occur face-to-face, by e-mail or telephone.
Presentations: The Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion and The Ginsburg Center for Inclusion and Community Engagement Office of Diversity Education and Training, and members of the training staff are available to make presentations to classes, departments, organizations, and student groups. We also facilitate sessions at team retreats. Our presentations cover a variety of diversity topics, and, if time, personnel, and resources allow, we will tailor specific presentations to meet your unique needs.
