In the 2020-2030 Master Plan, under the section Future Land Use & Urban Design, there is a policy that "All new UCF buildings shall be LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), and each new project shall achieve LEED Gold certification as defined by the U.S. Green Building Council." Within the utilities and engineering services website, it states “UCF mandates LEED® [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] certification for all new construction and major renovations through 28 credits incorporated in the Green Building Construction and Renovation Requirements with emphasis on energy, atmosphere, and water efficiency”. The university, within the strategic plan, includes goals of increasing STARS funding to integrate STARS sustainable performance goals into academics, administration, operations, and planning.
