A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
The Parking and Transportation Department collects data on all parking permits sold. To determine the number of alternate modes of commuting, the total parking passes purchased by students in a given quarter was divided by total student enrollment. This calculation was performed for Fiscal Year 2018-2019. The assumption was that if a student did not purchase a parking pass, their method of transportation was limited to walk, bike, carpool, bus, shuttle, etc.
