A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
UCSC reports on all property and facilities on its main Santa Cruz campus (1156 High St, Santa Cruz, CA 95064) with the exclusion of natural gas and electric data from the small Family Student Housing and faculty housing (Cardiff Terrace Townhomes, Hagar Meadow Townhomes, Ranch View Terrace Homes) facilities. They are excluded because these on-campus facilities are operated by employees and UCSC does not have access to all utility data. We also exclude faculty housing waste and recycling data because it is serviced by the City of Santa Cruz and we do not have access to that data. UCSC has ownership or purview of additional properties throughout the region. Natural gas, electricity, and water are reported to our best ability at these locations: Silicon Valley Campus, Coastal Science Campus, Westside Research Park, Landels-Hill Big Creek Natural Reserve, MBEST Center, Lick Observatory (Mt Hamilton), and the University Town Center (UTC). UCSC leases a portion of a business complex (Scotts Valley Center) that it does not report any metrics for except employee headcount because employees spend a significant portion of their time remote or on the main campus.
