UCSC is a member of the the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the U.S. Green Building Council (GCSHE), and Second Nature.
UCSC participates in the Real Food Challenge and the Environmental Protection Agency's sustainability programs, including the Food Waste Recovery Challenge.

UCSC is an active member in multiple groups within the UC system managed by the UC Office of the President (UCOP). UCSC is a founding signatory and member of the Monterey Bay Regional Climate Action Compact and a member of the Central Coast Climate Collaborative.

Our day-long, student-led conference aims to further local and global change in our community by representing diverse perspectives on a variety of social justice issues, and providing hands-on tools to make practical change. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about many social-justice-related topics in student-organized workshops and special sessions. This year’s workshop topics include:

The public lecture series brings together scientists, artists, policy experts, and community members to discuss the planet’s wellbeing and share solutions for the future.

- 13th Annual All-California Labor Economics Conference: https://transform.ucsc.edu/13th-annual-all-california-labor-economics-conference-at-uc-santa-cruz/
The event had 100 attendees from 18 different universities and organizations. The conference is held once a year at a university or research institute in California. Labor economists and economists from related fields from all over California attend each year. The papers presented at this year’s conference covered topics that touch on issues of public interest and social good.

- Employees from UCSC's Sustainability Office participate in a UC-wide sustainability group (STARS/Metrics Coordination Working Group) that works with one another and the UC Office of the President to help identify reporting protocols and to inform the development of one another’s sustainability programs.
- Sustainability Office staff also participate in multiple other UC working groups to mentor each other and share best reporting practices. See Optional Field below.
