Total energy consumption (all sources, excluding transportation fuels), performance year :
598,657.80 MMBtu

Option 1

Total clean and renewable electricity generated on site during the performance year and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes:
1,152.05 MMBtu

None
A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :
A 250KW system was installed on the McHenry Library roof in Dec. 2013. This system generates approximately 20,000 kWh/month.

Option 2

Non-electric renewable energy generated on-site, performance year:
0 MMBtu

None
A brief description of on-site renewable non-electric energy devices:
---

Option 3

Total clean and renewable electricity generated by off-site projects that the institution catalyzed and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes, performance year:
30,460.57 MMBtu

None
A brief description of off-site, institution-catalyzed, renewable electricity generating devices:
UC system's Wholesale Power Procurement: UCSC catalyzed, with other UC campuses, the installation of a 60MW PV Array in Fresno County, CA. The total generation of this system was 132,272 MWh, and the UCSC portion of that generation is 6.8%, or 8,934 MWh, which is equal to 30460.568 MMBtu. Note: the 2018 December meter reading was not in at time of reporting so that month was estimated. https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/uc-surges-toward-carbon-neutrality-largest-solar-power-purchase

Option 4

Total third-party certified RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products (including renewable electricity purchased through a utility-provided certified green power option) purchased during the performance year:
0 MMBtu

A brief description of the RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products, including contract timeframes:

Sierra magazine requests the following information from U.S. institutions that wish to share data with that organization:

Electricity use, by source (percentage of total, 0-100):
Percentage of total electricity use (0-100)
Biomass 0.40
Coal 0.20
Geothermal 0.94
Hydro 5.55
Natural gas 80.90
Nuclear 1.40
Solar photovoltaic 6.50
Wind 3.70
Other (please specify and explain below) 0.41

A brief description of other sources of electricity not specified above:
Oil

Energy used for heating buildings, by source::
Percentage of total energy used to heat buildings (0-100)
Biomass ---
Coal ---
Electricity ---
Fuel oil ---
Geothermal ---
Natural gas 100
Other (please specify and explain below) ---

A brief description of other sources of building heating not specified above:
---

Percentage of total energy consumption from clean and renewable sources:
5.28

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
MMBtu's for performance year are from purchased natural gas and electricity. MMBtu's are significantly lower than baseline and previous year because of the reduction in purchased natural gas due to cogeneration plant shutdown for entire calendar year.
